Nerja Wins Court Case

The Mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo, has announced that the Málaga branch of the Regional Supreme Court has decided in favour of Nerja concerning  La Coladilla golf course area.

According to the judge this land can be built on; i.e., used for housing, and that it had been segregated in 1985 from the green-belt mountain land.

The Mayor pointed out that the Junta de Andalucia had attempted to incorporate La Coladilla into the green-belt, despite the Town Hall’s protest to the contrary.

The Mayor stated that the Provincial Head of the Junta, Ignacio Trillo, ignored advice from his own legal department and went ahead with the process of including the disputed area into mountain, green-belt land. The Town Hall, said the Mayor, was forced to take the affair to court.

The Mayor is a happy man, but whether it is a victory for common sense and the preservation of untouched land is another matter.
