The police accompanied by a court official gained entry to a flat in order to carrying out an eviction only to find that the man had hanged himself. The 40-year-old victim, who lived in a flat in Calle Roselló in Barcelona, had not paid the rent in over a year.

When the police arrived at 10.30h, nobody answered their call at the door, so they called in a locksmith. When the man unlocked the door, the police entered to find the victim hanging by his neck on a length of rope.

The man lived by himself and worked for a TV channel, TV3 as a video technician. It appears that the man never asked for help or approached the the Town Hall or any other institution because of financial difficulties.

So far this year, twelve people have taken their own lives just before the moment of eviction.
