The Salobreña Town Council hosted a gathering of local clubs and associations on Sunday the 14th, where they had a chance to show off their works, such as painting, tapestry, pottery or basket weaving with esparto grass.
The event began with the 3rd Jamón Cutting competition, where members of the public could enjoy helpings of jamon serrano at just €2 a plate. After that, an exhibition of arts and handicrafts took place which lasted all day.
In the afternoon, there was a popular “verbena” (knees up) with live music, together with a lot of activities for children and a typical dessert tasting made by Mudesa and Tropical, which are Salobreña Women’s associations.
In the evening, a book swap took place thanks to Calibre 18seis80 club, which is a cultural association that promotes reading as a from of social awareness.
The day ended with the Dark-I-Light concert, a local heavy metal band. Some of the activities had symbolic price tags so that €950 was collected in order to support local families in need through the local charity,Proyecto 12.30.
