Playing with Death

A 10-year-old girl died and an 11-year-old was seriously injured when a concrete pipe in which they were playing broke and crushed them.

The pipes, which were one metre in diameter and weigh around a metric tonne each, were on a piece of land belonging to the mayor of the town. The empty plot of land was not fenced off and was often used as a ‘playground’ local children.

It appears that the boys who were playing with the girls were rolling the two pipes into each other with the girls inside.
