Exotic Birds Shot

Somebody has shot three Grey Crowned Cranes (Balearica regulorum) belonging to Almuñécar Loro-Sexi Bird Park. Nine pigeons there have also gone the same way. The Seprona department of the Guardia Civil is investigating the deaths.

Workers arrived at the Parque Ornitológico Loro Sexi to find the three exotic birds shot dead, together with the bodies of nine pigeons that had taken to nesting in the park.

The municipal biologist was immediately informed, together with the owners of the private company that is looking after the bird park. The bodies of the birds were taken to be X-rayed to find out what weapon had been used.

After that, the Town ordered the dead birds to be sent to the Forensic Institute in Murcia for a detailed report.

The park is closed to the public at the moment, whilst the Town Hall carries out improvements to the installations.
