It’s hard enough driving anywhere in the world these days, but being a bus driver in Moscow can be extremely frustrating. Trying to negotiate the heavy traffic, keeping your passengers safe and happy, and putting up with the crazy drivers in the city who think it is just fine to ‘cut up’ slow moving buses, just to gain that extra couple of seconds.

Well, one bus driver, Alexei Volkov, has his own solution to these selfish and aggressive drivers. He has mounted a dashboard camera in his bus, recording all the driving shenanigans that occur on his routes. Oh, by the way, when someone cuts him up, he doesn’t do the usual thing of jumping on the brakes to avoid the vehicle and sounding his horn… Oh no… Alexei just drives straight into the back of them! Not hard, but a fair old bump! He doesn’t lose his temper, shout or gesticulate, he just holds his course.

Alexei has now become a folk hero in Moscow and claims he is only highlighting just how aggressive and bad drivers are in the city. The police have been called to several collisions involving Alexei and his bus, but each time they just look at the video footage, smile, and then leave the drivers to sort it out through their insurance companies.

Most of the incidents are caused when the bus pulls out into traffic from a bus stop and a driver gets angry that a slow bus has entered the traffic and decide to teach him a lesson, so they overtake at speed, pull in in front of the bus and slam on their brakes. Unfortunately, the only lesson they learn is how much damage a large bus can do to a saloon vehicle.

So folks, if business or pleasure takes you to Moscow and you hire a car, don’t try and be a smarty pants by cutting up a bus driver… especially one who is now known locally as ‘The Punisher.’
