A patient in a psychiatric ward attacked a fellow patient and gouged his eyes out. Well, it doesn’t come much more gruesome than that! This incident occurred in the Area Psiquiatría of the Clínico de Málaga.
The magistrate at Nº6 Law Court of Málaga, accompanied by the Public Prosecutor and Forensic Scientist, went to the psychiatric department to take a statement from the two people involved.
The first person to be questioned was the 48-year-old victim, who is from Algeria. Unfortunately, the victim said that he remembers absolutely nothing. Accordingly, it was decided to wait and see how the man’s (physical) condition develops before attempted to question him again.
It wasn’t much different when it came to speaking to the man who had allegedly deprived the other man of his eyeballs… A 26-year-old chap from Ecuador. He also stated that he didn’t remember anything about the incident, which occurred in a 2-man room which they shared.
Now, the curious thing was that both men were secured to their respective beds, so the investigation is looking into how one of them could have freed himself. Apparently, he managed to free one arm and one leg, drag the bed over to his roommate and then… squeeze out his eyeballs… without either of them remembering anything!
