From MP to Postman

Jordi Miralles used to be chauffeured around in an official car in his capacity as Member of Parliament for the Catalan Regional Parliament – he now pushes a postman’s delivery trolley. The way the general public is feeling lately, they probably think that the rest of his ex-colleagues should follow suit.

Sr. Miralles spent 25 years as a politician, reaching the post of MP for the Esquerra Unida i Alternative party, but now at the age of fifty he has returned to what he used to be before climbing the political ladder.

Before, he says, he was a postman acting as a politician and now he is a politician acting as a postman, because the political party has a limit to how long you can serve as an MP and he had reached it.

Most people believe that once you’re on the political gravy train you’re set for life, and in the case of most it’s probably accurate, but not in Jordi’s case because there was no offer from a multinational to have him on the advisory board; just a letter from Correos offering his old job back, which he gladly accepted.
