Salobreña Councillor for Maintenance & Public Works, Javier Ortega, explained that the work being carried out on Calle Extramuros has been pending since 2007, which was when this street was connected to the N-340. However, since then, only temporary barriers have been in place to protect pedestrians from the embankment

This safety work will take 15 days and comprises of reinforcing the existing stone wall at the bottom of the embankment and the placing of a fencing rail at the top. The pavement will also be sorted out, with the elimination of “architectonic barriers,” i.e. make it easier for people with mobility problems to use, especially those in wheelchairs, etc.
