The Town Council of Nerja has awarded the contract for the building of the underground car park in Burriana to Sardalla Española, S.A. and Sondeos, Inyecciones y Trabajos Especiales, S.A.

These two companies, which will form a temporary merger to carry out the project, have a budget of 2,114,574.02 euros, plus a further 444,054.87 euros in the concept of IVA, giving a total of 2,558,601.89 euros, or in other words just over 2.5m euros.

The Councillor for Infrastructure, Antonio García, confirmed that work could commence at the end of this month or the beginning of February. The car park, which will have 200 parking places, should take 18 months to complete.

The budget will be funded by the Fondo Financiero del Estado para la Modernización de las Infraestructuras Turísticas, FOMIT.

Councillor Antonio García pointed out that this Burriana underground parking installation will be the fourth one in Nerja. The others are: Balcón de Europa, with 733 parking spaces; Verano Azul with 273 parking spaces; and the Swimming pool and sports pavillion parking with 70 parking spaces.
