Sexy Coffin Calendar

It appears that the coffin making trade in Poland is rather competitive, so much so that one particular firm has caused rather a stir by trying to improve sales with a calendar. So, how do you make coffins look interesting on a calendar? Easy, just get semi-naked women to drape themselves over the caskets.

Unfortunately, the Catholic church didn’t quite see it that way and has made it’s anger known. The firms owner, Zbigniew Lindner, tried to justify the pictures of women in thongs with snakes around their necks and another in a corset pretending to rip the heart from a man prostate on a casket, “My son thought a company calendar would be a good idea, and he wanted something semi-serious, colorful and beautiful… so he chose beautiful women with our beautiful caskets,” he explained.
“We are trying to show that a coffin is not a religious symbol, it’s just another product,” he went on, “why should people be frightened of caskets and not of business suits, cosmetics or jewelry?”

As for the Catholic church, well they have condemned the calendar as inappropriate, saying that, “human death should be treated with solemnity and not mixed up with sex,” a spokesman admonished.

Despite being a predominantly Catholic country, Poland has seen congregation numbers falling drastically in recent years, with huge changes in Polish society seeing many challenging the faith, and as a result, many people don’t see a huge problem with breaking the old taboos about sex and sexuality within a religious context.
