The Councillor for Education, Gema García, has urged the Junta de Andalucia to take the necessary steps so that the junior schools in Nerja become bilingual centres, as are the schools in neighbouring towns.
She pointed out that to date Nerja has only a high school with such an arrangement, whereas it would be ideal for all the junior and senior schools to have this system, so that all school children from the youngest to the eldest, can learn a second language; and perhaps a third.
She added that it should not be forgotten that Nerja is a town based on tourism and that a knowledge of foreign languages is fundamental when it comes to finding a job.
