A vintage-car race was held, starting from the Almuñécar Blas Infante Square – better known as the Friday-Market Square – up to the top of La Cabra mountain road. The team made up of rally-driver Borja Ramírez and co-pilot, Pablo Adrian “mind the bloody bend” Fernández won the competition, coming in first of the 41 cars that set off.
The I Subida por la Cabra was held on Saturday the 8th, which was open to any car with a number-plate older that the 8th of September 1987, had its finishing line at Los Prados, which is the bar just over the top, 25 kilometres from the starting point. Along the way, they had to pass through Jete and Otivar, and even Lentegí.
The event was organized by the Classic Car Club and the Almuñécar Municipal Board for Sports, with the backing of the Diputación Provincial, as well as the Jete and Otívar town halls. Also collaborating with the event were Motor Andaluz and the Otivar motor club, Corre.
In Second Place came Miguel Ángel Báez and Carolina Portillo, in a Seat 600, who are members of the Club Rueda. The Third Prize went to Salvador Fernández and Alba Fernández, driving a Renault 4, who are members of the Clasicoche car club.
There was also a prize for the oldest car, which was a 124 Spider (1964). The race began at 16.30h and finished at 22.00h and concluded without anybody driving off the mountain side, which is the main thing.
