A man has been found guilty of hitting his own mother with a broom and attempting to push her onto a road in front of an oncoming car.

The victim, typical of a mother, tried to soften her evidence against her son, however, the evidence given by a neighbour was crucial to his being found guilty. The said neighbour has received death threats from the condemned man, who received an 18-month prison sentence.

The aggressor lived with his aged parents, who scraped by with their pensions. When she asked him to hand over his key because the couldn’t afford to keep him any longer, he set upon her with the broom handle – she had been sweeping the floor.

The following day, he grabbed hold of her and shook her, trying to shove her in front of oncoming traffic. A female neighbour who saw what was happening intervened, threatening to call the police. His response was to promise her that if the police came for him, he would shoot her dead.

The reason that the parents wanted him to go was because of his aggressive behaviour and the fact that he took their pensions from them.
