The Asociación de Educación Ambiental y del Consumidor, ADEAC, has informed the Nerja Town Hall that it considers that the problems with the beaches has been sorted out and that it can now fly the blue flags again from Burriana and Torrecilla.
The ADEAC had given the Town Hall ten days put right the deficiencies and accordingly they got their collective fingers out and sorted it – kudos. Amongst the problems, readers might recall, was the presence of rubbish generated by the chiringuitos on Burriana Beach that wasn’t being placed in the rubbish containers provided. Other problems were a lack of information notices and oxygen equipment for the lifeguard post.
In the case of Torrecilla, the original ADEAC report pointed out that the beach approach lanes for boats and other craft had no warning notices to forbid bathers from swimming in them. Other defects were that the loud-hailer didn’t work and that there was no notice board explaining the meaning of the different coloured beach flags.
