A young father has been arrested by the police in Málaga after bursting into a hospital operating theatre and threatening a doctor and nurse.

The 4-year-old daughter of the alleged aggressor had been taken to the emergency department of the Hospital Materno Infantil after she had suffered a severe cut. The child received preliminary treatment but the hospital staff decided that the child needed to undergo a small surgical operation, requiring the use of an operating theatre.

The problem appears to have been that it was necessary to secure the child using straps, to stop her moving her arm, as she was very agitated and upset. She began crying and shouting, which is when the parents tried to enter the room to accompany her.

A member of the hospital security staff informed them that they weren’t allowed to enter the operating theatre, but the father pushed him aside and rushed inside. According to witnesses, the father threatened, “If you do anything to her, I’ll grab those scissors and kill you both.”

The doctor and nurse allowed the parents to remain whilst they finished stitching the wound, after which the parents left the room, but before they could leave the hospital premises they were confronted by policemen from Cuerpo Nacional de Policía, who had been alerted by the hospital security staff.

After hearing everybody’s account, they proceeded to arrest the 25-year-old father but left the mother to take care of the child, even though she was also charged.
