Almost Jailed for Death Threats

The Motril Law courts have sentenced a woman from Almuñécar to a 1-year suspended prison sentence for issuing death threats against a family-help worker.

The incident occurred on the 15th of September 2008 when the aggressor came across the psychologist from the Almuñécar, family-assistance department in the street. The said female psychologist intended to submit a report that recommended that the woman lost the custody of her son – the mother was not happy.

At the time of the encounter, the psychologist was accompanied by two female colleagues, who witnessed the exchange. The mother said, “Don’t even think about sending off that report or I will kill you,” So that there could be no misunderstanding concerning her objection to the findings of the report, she offered to smash the psychologist’s head through a nearby shop window and thumped her a couple of time on the arm to ‘punctuate’ her nonconformity.

The victim, apart from a bruised left arm, suffered a nervous breakdown, which despite an energetic visit to the hospital, took five days to dissipate.

The judge also awarded 300-euros in compensation to the victim, as well as the suspended jail sentence for the offender. We can only imagine that the report was sent, accompanied by an account of the encounter, which was pretty much conclusive.
