The First Councillor for La Herradura, Juan José Ruiz Joya has announced the upcoming XIV Festival de Títeres de La Herradura, which will take place from Thursday the 2nd to Sunday the 5th of August, beginning at 22.00h each night on the Plaza Nueva.
The First Councillor thanked the financial collaboration of the Provincial Council, which put up 7,200 euros for this event, amongst others, within the biannual cultural agenda budget. He considers that the Puppet Festival has become an established summer event in the village, bringing entertainment not only to the the little ones, but to the whole family.
This year the festival starts off with a puppet play entitled Ropa Vieja (Old Clothes), which will be staged by the puppeteer company, Baran Puppet – Ruyna Teatro. The play is based around the puppets being made from rags and recycled objects. You won’t need much Spanish as it has no dialogue, relying on visual gags and sound effects.
Friday will see the staging of Cuentos de Pocas Luces, (Dim Tales), directed by José Diego Ramírez, in a representation of the A La Sombrita puppeteer company from Écija-Sevilla. The play comprises of several independent micro-stories around a central theme: the evolution of the shadows shows.
On Friday the 4th the Granada-based puppet-theatre company, La Canela Teatro de Títeres, will stage Barquichuel de Papel (The little Paper Boat), whilst on Sunday the Málaga-based puppet-theatre company, Pata Teatro, will stage Cyrano, which will be right down Dave’s street…
