Jazz in the Alpujarra

The 6th annual jazz festival entitled, Villa de Busquístar, will have two days of concerts included. The event has had financing problems – who hasn’t – leading to its absence in the last two years, but this year it is back with a spot of jazz in August on the 3rd and 4th.

The Festival de Jazz & Blues, Villa de Busquístar, which has been organised by the provincial council and the village’s own town hall, features Mauri Sanchís and Erik Truffaz Quartet. The former is a machine on the Hammond organ and opens the festival on the 3rd, whilst the latter is a French trumpet player who has been compared to Miles Davis.

The entrance fee is five euros, or seven euros if you purchase a 2-day pass. Tickets can be bought in Granada at Musical Leonés, or in Órigiva (Librería Atenea), Pitres (Librería La Tahá) or at the Busquístar Town Hall, as well as on the day.
