Salobreña Mayor Strikes Out

The Mayor of Salobreña has accused the provincial council (Diputación de Granada) of ‘institutional disloyalty’ over the Lobres sports facilities.

“We believe that the Diputación is keeping this project paralyzed, which is a clear example of political discrimination, even though we have carried out all the necessary paperwork in the correct time frame; we even have our budget contribution assigned,” said the Mayor, Gonzalo Fernández Pulido.

The Mayor is referring to the boundary fence of the facilities and improvements to the tracks, which were approved by the provincial council in September last year and which are included within the projects to be carried out on sports facilities within the province.

When the project was approved, the Diputación asked the Town Hall to make sure that they had the sum of 15,000 euros, which was to be the municipal contribution to the project budget of 50,000 euros. This was duly assigned, says the Mayor, but since then nothing has moved, despite repeated requests for information from Salobreña.

According to the Mayor, the Lobres sports installations are in a deteriorated state, which could be dangerous for its users.
