A Home For The Noisy

Having played in a group for a couple of decades, I can say that the most difficult thing to find is somewhere to practice, especially if you’re a rock band.

The drums are a major problem; you can’t turn them down. So you have to find somewhere that doesn’t have noise-sensitive neighbours and that has an affordable rent. Why am I telling you all this? Well, because the Motril Town Hall has just provided practice facilities for its budding and noisy rockers.

The Vice-Mayor, who also doubles for the Councillor for Culture and Youth, Nicolás Navarro, has signed an agreement with four Motril rock bands, leasing band-practice rooms to them; somewhere they can beat the crap out of their drum kits and torture the speakers on their guitar amps.

The said Locales de Ensayos (practice rooms) are located in the dressing rooms of the Fair Ground and have been alloted to Laberintho B, Buenas Noches Daisy, Sasi and the Cachemirs and The Gallardos. Readers can be forgiven for thinking that they are bands from Gibraltar, where they are famous for their Spanglish.

Jammy bastards! And, no, that’s not a band’s name…
