Modernisation work will be carried out at the C.P. Segalvina de Salobreña, consisting of renewing the covered area, replacing of the existing bathrooms, the replacing of outside woodwork and the general upgrading of the wiring to bring it into line with current regulations.
Likewise, the recreation yard will have its sports track fitted with a better rainwater drainage system.
The Mayor, Gonzalo Fernández Pulido, considers that work, which will be carried out during the summer months, so as not to interrupt normal school activity, is very important and necessary.
The financing of the work is included within the Plan de Oportunidades Laborales en Andalucía (Plan OLA), belonging to the Junta, which is designed to provide temporary employment to those that find themselves without a job at the present time. The OLA will be providing jobs for a total of 646 people throughout the province between now and the end of 2012.
But the Segalivna is not the only Salobreña school that will benefit from the OLA, as the secondary school, Nazarí will also have 360,000 euros spent on it, once the contract has completed the bidding and awarding stage.
