Madeleine in Nerja?

It seems that the search for the missing – and much media covered – Madeleine McCann has hit the headlines again, this time with a request from the Portuguese police to follow up on a Nerja-based clue; they believe that the missing girl could be there.

The Portuguese police sent an email to the Headquarters of the Spanish Policía Nacional to say that they had received information concerning the sighting of a girl that answers to Madeleine’s description. All leads are followed up, so it doesn’t mean that this one is any more or less important.

The question is, if the latest photograph of the girl dates from the beginning of 2007 when she disappeared, now the child is five years older and more than likely looks nothing like the girl depicted in the photo. – she was, after all, only four at the time of her disappearance.

In the meantime, nearly eleven children go missing in India every hour and at least four of them are never found, according to a report by the Indian, children-rights organisation, Bachpan Bachao Andolan, which covers 392 of India’s 640 districts.
