The public prosecutor is maintaining his recommendation of 14 years imprisonment for a man that allegedly tried to set light to a pub in Salobreña with people in it. The incident occurred in December 2009.
Sr. R.M.B admitted that he had returned to the pub, after having been ejected from it, with a bottle of gasoline and poured it over the entrance door and settling light to the flammable liquid, before disappearing. However, because he has admitted his guilt, this will reflect favourably for him during sentencing.
He said that he acted out of rage and after finding an empty bottle, managed to fill it from the tank of a nearby motorbike.
The owner of the establishment said that he and others, once alerted to the fire, managed to extinguish it. The owner rejects the idea of claiming compensation as the damage was covered by his insurance.
