The body of Málaga lawyer, Salvador Andrés Reina was found in the boot of his car near the bus station in the city last Friday. The find brings to an end, in the worst possible way, the uncertainty felt by the family over his disappearance. The 50-year-old lawyer’s body showed signs of having suffered a violent death.
After being reported as missing by his family, the police arrested a German national (P.R.B.) who is a 50-year-old with a police record. Obviously, they are now looking at a murder and are investigating possible motives. It appears that Salvador met P.R.B. through another lawyer in a professional capacity. The most probable reason for the crime is theft, and it is believed that the lawyer may have been forced to withdraw money from his account before being killed.
The victim’s car, a metallic-blue Volvo, along with the nearby area, was closely examined by police forensic teams before the deceased was taken away to undergo an autopsy. Meanwhile, the suspect remains in custody accompanied by his lawyer.
The Bar Association of Málaga said the death of their colleague has had a deep impact on their members, pointing out that Mr. Reina was just trying to “fulfill his obligation as a lawyer by attending to a stranger in need of help, who then stole from him and murdered him.” They also praised the police for their “intense” investigation into Salvador’s disappearance and then murder.
A colleague summed up the shock and horror felt over this crime, “He was a good person and loved his profession… it could have happened to any of us,” he said.
