Three Kings in Almuñécar

A dozen floats took part in the Almuñécar 3-Kings Parade, which set out a just after six in the evening and took three hours to work its way round the thronging crowds of awe-struck kiddies.

Melchor Gaspar & Baltasar were kept busy the whole time dispensing many kilos of sweets and Christmas presents.

Despite the inroads made by the Anglo-Saxon Red-clad interloper (Santa) with Spanish society, the Three Kings still holds its own and remains the most waited-for event for Spanish Children… that and the day school breaks up for the eternal summer holidays, of course.

The parade, which consisted of trailers and vehicles decked out in many themes, was just the grande finale, with the day beginning around noon with the ‘Solidarity Parade,’ and the handing out of gifts, thanks to the ‘No-Child-Without-A-Present’ campaign.

Everybody deserves a pat on the back, from those that organised it, to the children who enjoyed it the most, because without either, there would be no 3-Kings Parade, would there?
