Appeal Quashed

The driver who tried to run down three Guardia Civil policemen has had his seven years’ imprisonment upheld by the Supreme Court after his appeal failed.

The incident occurred in Albuñol at a routine check point after the Guardia Civil stopped M.G.A. and fined him for not wearing his seatbelt. As a demonstration of his non-confirmity, he then tried to run down the 3-man unit. The provincial court originally imposed the 7-year sentence after finding him guilty of attempted murder on three counts.

The driver will be serving his sentence on the prison psychiatric ward.
