A 25-year-old Dutch lad decided that he would avenge the defeat of his country’s football team at the hands of the Spanish selection during the last World Cup by stealing the Spanish flag from the Avenida de la Constitución in Granada.

The reason that he was nabbed  – this occurred just after midnight – was that there are traffic cameras in the said avenue and the police watched with interest as the man climbed the flagpole to steal the huge flag, before nipping around to arrest him, just as he reached the ground.

Oh well… Spain 1 – Holland 0… again.
