The ex-Mayor of Ronda, Antonio Maria Marin and six other people were arrested in connection with corruption investigations.
The six other people were all socialist members of the local council, as well as one of their number who holds the post of provincial member of parliament. Together with the ex-Mayor they stand accused of money laundering, amongst other charges.

The present Mayoress, Maria Paz Fernadez (the town hall changed hands from a socialist to a conservative administration) considers that the “police operation puts into question the previous administration,” which is an understatement, adding, “Ronda does not deserve such politicians,” and demanded that those implicated fully co-operate with judicial investigation.
