Castle Moat A Mess

The neighbours of San Miguel Castle are not happy with the neglected state of the moat, which admittedly looks like the castle has been attacked by a herd of plastic-explosive-throwing midgets from Birminham. The Seaside Gazette had cause to go up there recently to take photos, so we can confirm that it is a mess.

The Asociación de vecinos del Castillo laments the fact that the restoration work has been inactive for weeks, precisely in the summer, which is when this top, Almunecar tourist attraction has most visitors. Furthermore, enquiries at the Town Hall fail to obtain a straight answer concerning when work will recommence.

The moat area used to be a paved patio, where concerts and plays were held, with the side opposite the castle being several tiers of stone seating, .
