The Guardia Civil in Atarfe managed to track down three individuals that beat the crap out of a driver in order to steal his car.

The man had been driving along the N-342 where it passes through Atarfe when he was waved down by three men who were standing across the road. The three thugs had been overtaken by their victim, decided that they liked his car and would steal it, so they overtook him and waited for him to approach, further up the road.

Just as soon as he had stopped, they pulled him out and set about adjusting his dental chart. Satisfied with their handiwork, they then drove off in his brand new Ford Focus.
The victim managed to peel himself off the road and stagger off to the Guardia Civil post, where he reported the assault and theft. The Guardia, being pretty damned efficient, soon found the car, which had been abandoned, taken finger prints and arrested one of their number; a 25-year-old man from Maracena.

And the moral of the story is, if you are being flagged down under suspicious circumstances, make sure that your doors are locked before you come to a stop and wind the window down only enough to hear and not down enough for somebody to grab you by the throat or reach your ignition keys.
