We are very lucky to have such a multitude of talented and dedicated artists in our local community. Thankfully, so many of them are willing share their time, energy and passion in order that the rest of us can behold and enjoy their interesting and beautiful creations.
For example, between March 16th and 30th, seven artists from the Nordic artist group (las artistas nórdicos) exhibited a collection of their work at Casa de la Cultura in Almuñécar. Approximately 50 pieces in total were on display consisting of oil watercolour and acrylic paintings, as well as photographs. Art enthusiasts will be happy to know that there are a few upcoming art events that are worth visiting:
The Bruno Art Gallery in Nerja is having an exhibition featuring two magnificent artists in their own right. Andrea Auer will be showing 20 of her magnificent oil and watercolour paintings and Viviane Van Kessel will have an assortment of her lovely ceramic sculptures on display.
The exhibition runs for one month starting on April 15th. Don’t miss the inauguration, which takes place on Friday, April 15th at 20:00h. There will be live music, wine and tapas.
The Bruno Art Gallery, which opened its doors on Feb. 9th, is located on Calle Iglesia 7, Nerja. Their opening hours are Tues.-Sun. 11:00 -14:00 and 18:00 – 21:00. Closed Mondays. For gallery info. call Marisol Gutierrez G-Alix at 952 523 723.

By the way, if you are keen on learning how to paint yourself, you can attend Andrea Auer’s painting classes (for all levels) every Wednesday from 10:00 – 12:00. They take place at restaurant El Tinao in La Herradura.
Another local artist, Danish Anne Marie Brogger Nielsen, who lives in Motril, will be showcasing her paintings again this year at Gallery Espacio 3 in Málaga from April 26th until May 15th.
The paintings are done in blue (her favourite colour) and are illustrations of her favourite place; la playa. The inauguration will take place April 29th at 20:00h. Gallery Espacio 3 is located in front of CAC Málaga (Contemporary Art Center) on c/Alemania 3.
If you are visiting Frigiliana in April, don’t forget to stop in at the Danish run contemporary art gallery Galeria Krabbe, located at Rosarico La Joaquín 12.
Artist Arne Haugen Soerensen will be displaying his work there until May 7th. The gallery, which is run by Dorthe and Caroline Krabbe, features national as well as international art.
Aside from the current exhibition, the gallery always showcases an outstanding selection of lithographs, sculptures, paintings and ceramics.

In Motril, you can view the painting exhibition entitled: Viajes, at Casa Condesa de Torre-Isabel until April 30th. The paintings are by Granada artist Fernando Jiménez and depict the human drama of immigrants who journey to the Costa Tropical in small boats.
