We start the section with a tragic incident that occurred at the beginning of the month, so it is very likely that you already know all about it. On the 5th of September an Englishman died in a car accident at the western end of the village, near the Nuevo Camping.
Apparently, he had been driving down from Las Palomas direction when he failed to negotiate the bend at the bottom and consequently smashed into a tree. He didn’t die at the scene, but did finally succumb before he reached hospital.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred around 22.00h when the Fiat Ducato, belonging to a car-rental company, impacted against the trunk of a cypress tree around the area of the electricity transformer located there. Curiously, there appeared to have been no attempt by the driver to brake.
The first to arrive were the Guardia Civil and the Local Police, followed soon after by the ambulance. The driver was conscious and managed to say a few words, but entered respiratory arrest shortly before the ambulance arrived.

I would appreciate if you could retract this article as it has caused pain and upset to my family and the full extent of the events have not been released to the deceased’s wife. Some of the information in this article are incorrect and hearsay!
I am sorry that this article has caused distress – there are always loved ones behind every article that covers road accidents and deaths. We all read these articles in the press but it is not until it touches us personally that we look further than what is written.
I assure you, however, this article is not based on hearsay, as you claim, but is based on an article that was published in our provincial press (Ideal, written by J.M de Haro) and published on the 6th of September. I provide a link and the original article, which for obvious reasons is in Spanish. There are, in fact, details within the article that I thought it better not to mention.
