Car Docs Kept In Vehicle

Here’s a tip, which I just learned the hard way. If, like me, you don’t keep originals of any documentation in your car – after all, why make life easier for thieves – and your car is due for its ITV inspection, then beware. You need to produce the original of at least your Permiso de Circulacion. Photocopies not acceptable.
Luckily, I have long learned that Spanish bureaucracy responds well to grovelling. That, and a quick phone call to SWMBO meant I was able to have the correct papers delivered on the spot, and my appointment rescheduled, in very short order. Very efficient, they are.
(Ed: Take your photocopies around to the Town Hall and ask to have them ‘compensado,’ which means that, for a small fee, they stamp it to vouch for its authenticity.)
