La Joyería Danesa

Most of us in the Danish community know Ebbe and Violette, the gifted jewellery-designer-duo who own La Tienda Danesa in Almuñécar. Their shop is a treasure trove of exquisite jewellery. It is impossible not to fall for one of their unique pieces. Trust me; I know. I went there today and saw a beautiful necklace that I had to have. I simply couldn’t leave the shop without it. In fact, I don’t think I could have lived without it. The thought of it staying behind at their shop (as opposed to coming home with me) would have driven me crazy. Can anyone relate to this or does this only happen to me?
While I was admiring my lovely new necklace, Violette shared some very exciting news. They are opening another store in Frigiliana on Monday, May 3rd. It will go by the name La Joyería Danesa. They are having a reception that day starting from 11:00 a.m. until approx. 19:00. The decision to expand to Frigiliana is based on a number of reasons. Obviously, one being that Frigiliana is one of the most beautiful towns in Spain. As for the location, Ebbe and Violette have managed to find the perfect spot in town for La Joyería Danesa. It is located at Hernando el Darra 2, which is right where the steps lead up towards the church. You can’t miss it – just look for the jewellery-draped mannequin seated by a café-table outside the shop.
Another motive for the expansion was to make their designs available for the Chinese, German and English tourists (amongst others) who frequent Frigiliana. The clientele who visit Frigiliana don’t always make it as far as Almuñécar. La Joyería Danesa will showcase the same well-known brands they sell in their Almuñécar store – aside from Ebbe and Violette’s own splendid creations, of course. Some of the popular brands include Per Borup Design, Creol Copenhagen and the very trendy Danish Spinning jewellery, to name a few. What is special about the Spinning jewellery is that you can combine or mix-and-match the vast collection of charms, rings and earrings, as you like. As for how they will divide their time, Violette said that is yet to be determined. However, the plan is to be open every day in Frigiliana. As for Almuñécar, they are considering limiting the number of days open to four days a week, as well as opening by appointment.  Until their new phone number is hooked up, you can reach them on their mobile: 687 850 670.
