Restaurant Reina Sofía

(NW) Well with Valentine’s Day approaching and no mention of a romantic meal out from my husband, I was delighted to accept a very generous gift from a friend, for my husband and me to sample the wonderful delights at the Restaurant Reina Sofia.
The restaurant, which is easy to find, heading towards Velilla on the Paseo de Reina Sofía, is tastefully decorated and boasts a warm and friendly atmosphere. We were greeted by our waiter for the evening who showed us to our table. There was a special six-course menu with mouth-watering tastes, such as crab and seafood soup, salad of langostinos, jamón and potatoes, then lubina (sea bass) Mediterranean style with basil and pine nuts, followed by apple sorbet to cleanse the pallet before feasting on beef with mushrooms. To top the meal off, I felt it was necessary to fully savour the delightful chocolate and nut dessert…. hmmm. My mouth is watering again as I recall the tastes.
The buzzing atmosphere of the busy restaurant and superb menu made for a lovely occasion.  The service was friendly and efficient and paced perfectly. I had noticed that a couple of people had called into the restaurant on the off chance of getting a table. Unfortunately for them, the day was a sell out and clearly it was absolutely essential to book in advance. I certainly will be returning very soon to enjoy another meal… or alternatively be dropping very large hints to my husband about a special place to go!
