The was a real-estate fair held in the marquee on Plaza Kuwait (next to the aquarium) to exhibit just some of the 500 dwellings in Almuñécar that don’t have an owner; i.e., newly built and never sold, as well as the many second-hand homes on sale.

Expo Inmo saw about a dozen real-estate agents and building developers exhibiting their properties. According to one of the companies there, there are offers with up to 40% off, but they’re still not budging because the financing isn’t there (mortgages) or those that do have the funds still prefer to wait.

The figure of 500 finished or almost completed dwellings was given by the Chairman of the Confederation of Professional Associations of Almuñécar, Trinitario Betoret (the developer behind the 5-star hotel and residential complex in Santa Cruz and Eroski City supermarket (old Híper),) as well as the gasoline station behind the sports stadium.

One of the novel ideas present at the fair was the possiblility to rent one of the 21 unsold flats in the Cercado de la Santa Cruz (San Sebastian) for a weekend or a few days to get a feel of the properties for sale.
