The XVII edition of the Festival Tendencias will be held from the 3rd to the 9th of August. For instance, there will be theatre in the form of puppets on the 5th and Aerobic Dancing on the 6th.
Purely for kiddies there will be play activities (Jueguimóbil) from eight in the evening until eleven on the 3rd and 4th. This attraction includes 33 different games – a must for your younger children! The location appears to be the beach: “Salobreña beach will become a great, open-air theme park for kids and adults for the enjoyment of games,” said the Councillor for Culture, Gustavo Aybar.
On the 5th in the Casa de la Cultura, for kids aged between five and 105, according to the pamphlet, is the puppet theatre entitled: La Vida de un Piojo Llamado Matias (The Life of a Louse called Matias). The show starts at 21.30 and costs three euros. The play, apart from being fun, aims at favouring difference and rejecting racism.
As for music, the main slot will be for Angelique Kidjo, who will be performing on the 9th. This artist has been nominated four times in the Grammy Awards and furthermore Peter Gabriel and Carlos Santana contributed to her latest album Djin Djin. Just a word of caution, on her website agenda of gigs, it says that she will perform on the 7th; not the 9th – somebody’s got it wrong!
Anyway, Salobreña has plenty planned for August, so pop into the Town Hall or Casa de la Cultura for more info.
