Steps are being taken towards building a new health centre in Motril, in the Las Zorreras area, to serve the increasing number of residents on the East side of town. The number of inhabitants in this zone is already pushing 19,500 and is on the rise, possibly reaching 30,000 over the next 10 years, as tourism and industry continue to expand in Motril.
The land mapped out for the building is situated next to the aviation zone and offers 3600 meters squared, with the possibility for expansion in the future if necessary. Mayor Carlos Rojas, who predicts rapid growth in both industry and tourism, particularly with Motril Port now up and running, hopes that the centre will be able to offer a quality service, that will be able to meet the future demand of residents. He is keen to get started on the project as soon as possible.
