A historical moment for Motril this month, as the Council orders the first demolition of an illegal build in the area surrounding la Casa de Los Bates. The part-finished metallic eyesore covers 1800 meters squared and is just one of many illegal buildings littering our landscape. And it certainly won’t be the only one to come crashing down. The council has officially begun its crack down on the concrete jungle, by launching an urban inspection plan to assess areas where building is prohibited, and remove any illegal structures it comes across along the way.
They have also announced that ‘now is the time to put a stop to urban building that for years has been proliferating areas of non-urbanisation and that sooner or later will hinder further urban development’. Ok chaps, better late then never.
