Two people were injured in a boat fire docked in the Marina de Benalmádena (Málaga), According to the 112 Emergency Call Centre.

The emergency coordination centre received several calls, with the first one coming in at 17.40h on Wednesday, to say that there had been an explosion on a small craft within the marina.

They immediately despatched the Benalmádena fire service, Policía Local, Policía Nacional, Guardia Civil and an ambulance, as well as alerting Salvamento Marítimo and Cruz Roja.

A 40-year-old man had been injured in the fire and had severe burns (25%). Together with another victim who had injuries to his chest, arms and a leg, he was taken to the Hospital Regional de Málaga.

Apparently both of them had been cleaning the pleasure craft’s bilge when the explosion occurred.

As for the craft, the Policía Local reported that it had sunk at its moorings.
