Were You Caught Out?

Were you caught out by yet another holiday that took place in Motril on Wednesday 13 January? Just when you thought it was safe to get on with your daily life after the extraordinarily long Christmas and New Year holidays in the area, up pops another day off!

Beach Clean

Talking of cleaning, and going back somewhat to the earlier article about the heavy rainfall, the debris is finally being cleared from the beach.

Pucker Palm!

Are there any gentlemen out there who think theirs is not quite as big as other peoples, or perhaps not quite as erect? Is it well trimmed and clean? These are all important issues to consider when talking palm trees.

Lack of Light

The front page this month concerns itself with the ongoing (or not) issues in relation to the completion (or not) of the A-7. However, this little article is more concerned with the local issue of not a single light on the La Herradura exit from the A-7.
The lack of lighting has been a problem now for several months, and is the result of unscrupulous thieves (is there any other kind?) who stole all the copper wiring for resale in the now very lucrative scrap metal market.

Leaky Roof?

Did anyone else suffer with a leaky roof during the recent downpours? It seems that Spain and her buildings struggle as much with heavy rain as Britain does with snow!

Publication Update February

We hope to be at the printer by Friday morning, meaning that the hard copy will be distributed on the 2nd or 3rd (the printer doesn’t work weekends.

Help for Heroes

The H4H Charity are having a fundraiser on Friday 29th January at the Peña Parda restaurant in La Herradura at 11am, where there will be a raffle, with coffee and hopefully a few donations in aid of soldiers wounded whilst serving their country.
If you can make it down to the Peña Parda, your support will be much appreciated.

Inter Spanish Courses

Just before Christmas I stopped off at Inter, the language school, just opposite Plaza Mayor in Almuñécar, and Jimmy, who runs this brilliant school told me about their courses and work ethic.
They pride themselves on having highly qualified teachers, using a communicative approach to all lessons, which are always conducted in a friendly atmosphere.
