Tribulations for the Mayor

There are further tribulations for the Mayor, with the Public Prosecutor breathing down his neck over his dubious divorce and alleged fraud to hide his patrimony from possible embargo.

This all goes back to the setting up of a semi private company in the late 80’s with sizeable public funds, giving the Town Hall the controlling shares. This company, Tropicalfruits, went bankrupt and subsequent investigation uncovered unconventional and deficient bookkeeping. It was found, for instance, that the company had been buying fruit at a greater price than it had been selling it.

Cajasol protest in Almuñécar

Employees from a building company, who haven’t received any salaries since November, protested outside the Almuñécar branch of the Cajasol. The company owner claims that the savings bank is subjecting him to a financial blockade, which has caused this shortfall.

New School Demand

We have all seen the white sheets hanging around the seafront with large black letters on them demanding a new school, and bemoaning the state of the existing facilities, so who was it the protestors were trying to get through to?

Pervert on a pushbike

Two local females have had encounters with a pervert on a pushbike. The incidents occurred whilst the fair was in town, and both happened on the La Herradura beachfront..

Motril descendents

A story of immigration, but in reverse. Last month the Mayor of Motril, Carlos Rojas, travelled to Albardón in Argentina, accompanied by Head of Immigration, Teresa Morales, to visit the Motril community there.

PGOU

At the beginning of last month, the PGOU spent its first anniversary sitting on a desk, somewhere in the offices of the Junta de Andalucía, dead in the water. In that time absolutely nothing has happened to it, except collect dust, because the Junta won’t even begin to look at it until the Almuñécar Town…

Dangerous driving

The Almuñécar-based Guardia Civil arrested a 36-year-old driver from Cijuela, identified as F.N.H. for resisting arrest, as well as dangerous driving.
