Plantyflor – Florist in Almuñécar

Run by Francisco, there is always a good selection of potted plants and both natural and artificial flowers. I should know a good deal more about the potted plants as Di doesn’t seem to be able to pass the place without coming away with a new pot and contents to adorn our balcony.

Blocked, Bridge Arches Cleared

The arches of the old bridge over the Barranco Las Tejas had become clogged with vegetation, washed down by the recent rains. Fortunately, the Town Hall has now rectified the situation, removing the debris.

Not Recommended

The incident occurred at the entrance into Torrenueva, on Saturday the 12th in the evening. Two policemen on traffic duty saw that the approaching car had defective lights and waved him down. The police had explained why the were going to fine him, which was when he punched one of them in the face, causing him to fall to the ground and bang the back of his head on the tarmac. Taken aback by his own violent efficiency, he then threatened the other policeman.

Art Exhibition

There will be an art exhibition at the Centro Civic in La Herradura, running for the 15th to the 30th of this month. Viewing times are from 10.00h to 14.00h, barring weekends, when it will be closed to the public.

Pepilla in the Cross Hairs

Plenty of people in Salobreña are asking themselves and each other who the hell ‘Pepilla’ is, because somebody has ‘decorated’ the town with graffiti asking where she is – the Town Hall isn’t happy…

On Friday the 25th of November there will be a charity, pre-Christmas lunch held in aid of the Help4Heroes charity.

The Parkinson’s Association for Granada, which has been operating for 13 years, will provide advice and answer questions, in Salobreña and other coastal towns of Granada.

Crackdown on Rubbish

The Salobreña Town Hall has sent out ultimatums to 30 owners of empty building plots and/or derelict buildings around the town. The message is clear: you tidy them up, or we will, and then we’ll send you the bill.

Good News for Pensioners

The Chairman of the Local Entity Council for Carchuna- Calahonda has announced that there will be a discount on rubbish tax for pensioners that receive less than 900 euros a month. It’s worth explaining that a ‘Local Entity’ is the term for an autonomous municipal annex of a larger town, in this case, of Motril.
