A7 Gorgoracha-Puntalon Go Ahead

The much-needed stretch of autovia between Gorgoracha and Puntalón was 75% complete when all work ground to a halt; the construction company Isolux Corsan had struck an unexpected strata of rock that would require a lot of extra funding to reroute the construction work.

Not Recommended

The incident occurred at the entrance into Torrenueva, on Saturday the 12th in the evening. Two policemen on traffic duty saw that the approaching car had defective lights and waved him down. The police had explained why the were going to fine him, which was when he punched one of them in the face, causing him to fall to the ground and bang the back of his head on the tarmac. Taken aback by his own violent efficiency, he then threatened the other policeman.

Good News for Pensioners

The Chairman of the Local Entity Council for Carchuna- Calahonda has announced that there will be a discount on rubbish tax for pensioners that receive less than 900 euros a month. It’s worth explaining that a ‘Local Entity’ is the term for an autonomous municipal annex of a larger town, in this case, of Motril.

Mugged at a ATM

A Local Police foot patrol was approached by a frantic woman who told them that two people were fighting in a nearby public square. The police were soon there and separated the two men, but this wasn’t a disagreement that got out of hand, but a victim and a mugger battling it out.

Cruises and Castles

When it was announced that the Costa Tropical was going to receive 18m euros for tourist infrastructure projects, everybody was over the moon. The next step was to submit proposals.

A-7 Confusion

The Province of Granada seems to be receiving one piece of bad news after another. First of all it was the negative from Brussels to route the Mediterranean rail-freight network via Costa Tropical, leaving Motril port without a rail connection, and then on the 26th of October, it was announced that the autovia construction between Taramay and Salobreña had seemingly ground to a halt.
