Civic Centre Repairs

The Mayor, at a recent Town Council Meeting made an announcement that work was to commence on the repairs to the auditorium of the Civic Centre in La Herradura.

Youngsters Injured In Collision

Three of the four people who were injured in a multiple collision on the N-340 on Sunday 21st March have been released from hospital after suffering only minor injuries, a fourth however is now in the Intensive Care Unit of the University hospital in Malaga, after being transferred there by helicopter.

Fair Play!

Have you heard the one about the The Mayor, Costas and a few fairground rides? Well, sit back and immerse yourself in the mud-wrestling event that is local politics.
The whole story centres around an ‘alleged’ telephone call received on the 17th March at the Town Hall from Costas, which in effect said that permission had been refused for the installation of fairground rides on the paseo for this year’s San Jose event.

Independence Day

We reported last month on the movement created by a group of young Herradureños, to make La Herradura a local autonomous entity. In other words, to break free from Almuñécar and have it’s own Town Hall and control over a local budget. It seems that, not only has the movement gained momentum with a large number of new members, but has also attracted the attention of the four opposition parties, according to their spokesperson Juan Carlos Cacín Barbero.

Rock ‘N Roll

After writing about the undermining on the Punta, and reassuring everyone that we were not suggesting that the area was about to fall into the sea, you can imagine my shock when that big old rock on the bend just before Chambao de Joaquin, came crashing down, completely blocking the road.
