Almuñécar will host another gastronomic event in its botanical park, El Majuelo, this Sunday, entitled, XI Feria Gastronómica Calé.

Calé is the Spanish Gyspsy term for the themselves and the event is for raising funds for the Cofradía del Santísimo Cristo de los Gitanos de Almuñécar; i.e., their highly popular, Semana Santa throne, etc.

The event starts as midday (12.00h) and there will be paella, migas, barbacoa and buñuelos con chocolate, as well as other culinary goodies. There will also be music performed by Alma Marinera.

But we have jumped the gun because, the day before, Saturday the 24th, there will be the Verbena de la Resurrección. in the Plaza Marruecos starting 13.00h, this time for the Cofradía de la Gloriosa Resurrección de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo y Santa María del Triunfo, Reina de los Cielos de Almuñécar.

This Saturday event will be a chance to sample arroz negro, barbacoa, croquetas, migas, buñuelos and postres caseros. There will also be live music performed by Aliña2. The Plaza Marruecos, we believe is the old Bonsai Park.

So, there you have it, a chance to eat some excellent Spanish dishes on both days and a bit of lively entertainmentt!
