The Chairman of the Mancomunidad, the Mayor of Almuñécar, the Maintenance Councillor, and the Manager of Aguas y Servicios visited the Barrio of Torrecuevas.
This ‘star studded’ visit occurred on Wednesday the 23rd because of the start of work on its water supply/sewage systems. The work will be carried out in five sections with a budget of 341,503 euros.
The part that is now being worked on is next to Taller Hermanos Cervilla workshop, and in the photo we can see these five men poised in an illustrious manner next to an irrigation channel with a PVC crossing over it.
The Mancomunidad Chairman, Rafael Caballero said, “Today we are taking an important step in improving the sanitation of Torrecuevas with the start of two new sections of a global action that exceeds 340,000 euros,” adding that, “We will continue to move forward, phase by phase, in modernising a network that supplies one of Almuñécar’s most important and populated barrios.”
Staunch stuff!
He also wanted to thank the Town Hall, quite forgetting that he is a councillor there, for the work in several departments: Culture, Archaeology, Heritage, and Urban Planning, along with the bods from Aguas y Servicios for digging around figuratively so that other people could dig around physically.
It should be pointed out that this area of Almuñécar is littered with Roman structures, starting with the aqueduct that runs right through the barrio and the Columbario de La Torre del Monje dating back to the 1st Century AD, which a previous administration had happily let somebody build their house just 10 metres from it.
This work near the Taller Cervilla workshop involves involve replacing 158 meters of the collector pipe running along an irrigation channel using a 315-millimetre PVC pipe, as well as renewing 18 household connections. In the Torrecuevas section, 334 linear meters of a new collector pipe will be installed, and another 13 household connections will be renewed.
For years each time a mayor and councillors visited Torrecuevas they got hammered by irate residents asking when they were going to sort the problem out so now they can show their faces because they actually are.
