A fire that broke out in the area of Ízbor in the early hours of Thursday the 10th of last month, causing a bit of alarm amongst residents in this tiny hamlet with a population of just over 200, where, no doubt, a couple of foreigners llive.

The fire started between 04:00h and 04:30h, which is when residents alerted the emergency services; i.e., 112, because the flames were close to people’s homes on the outskirts.
For this reason (the proximity of the fire to housing) a provisional evacuation was carried out in some of the said houses, which were in the barranco area and the upper part of the village. Fortunately, the fire was dealt with quickly and nobody was injured.
It is thought amongst the villagers that the fire might have been intentional, owing to the time that it started, although the fire department has issue no official statement to that effect.
