Messy Shopping Centre

The Mayor of Motril, or better said, his Vice Mayor, Fernando Hernández, has had a go at the shopping centres over the amount of litter in their parking areas and surroundings.

He made this observation when he visited Motril Retail Park, next to the Rambla de las Brujas – that’s the one with Lidl in it, across from Alcampo.

Motril Retail Park is a private shopping area meaning that keeping it clean falls to them rather than the Town Hall. Furthermore, the Town Hall says that it has received numerous complaints from concerned Motrileños

“At the Town Hall we have been keeping an eye on this busy area, especially in the summer, as well as the complaints from people, concerning certain areas within the shopping centre,” said VM Hernández

He said that the Town Hall had got onto the owners of the shopping centre back in July but heard nothing back from them, so they contacted them again in August. Again, it appears nothing was heard back.

“At the moment we are beginning the administrative process to issue a fine and we want to make it clear that if they do not act, we will clean it up ourselves, passing them the bill,” said, Hernández, adding, “This will not cost local tax payers even a cent.”
